Young defender Sam Taylor will return to the GIANTS’ side for Sunday afternoon’s clash with the Gold Coast SUNS in Ballarat.

Taylor has been confirmed to return from an ankle injury that has sidelined the 22-year-old for the past five weeks.

He replaces Jack Buckley who underwent a knee reconstruction on Thursday.

Also included in the 26-man squad are Xavier O’Halloran, Matt de Boer, Sam Reid and Jesse Hogan.

O’Halloran has played eight games this season as well as three as the medi-sub in his third year as a mid-forward.

De Boer played in the VFL last week, picking up 25 disposals and laying seven tackles.

Reid was the medi-sub last week, coming on early in the first quarter and playing as a lockdown defender after Buckley was injured.

Hogan returned via the VFL last week following five weeks out with a calf injury. He made his last senior appearance in round nine where he kicked four goals against Richmond.

Coach Cameron confirmed on Thursday that captain Stephen Coniglio will play in Saturday’s VFL game against the SUNS as he continues to increase his game time on the way back from a serious ankle and toe injury.

The final team will be named at 5pm on Friday.

The GIANTS take on the SUNS at Mars Stadium in Ballarat at 12:40pm on Sunday.
