GIANTS recruit Braydon Preuss will require a shoulder reconstruction following an incident at training on Monday.

Subsequent scans and a consult with a specialist determined Preuss’ left shoulder dislocated, with surgery the recommended treatment.

The 25-year-old will have surgery on Thursday and his recovery is expected to take four to five months.

GIANTS General Manager of Football Jason McCartney said:

“This is obviously hugely disappointing for Braydon who has come into our club and had an immediate impact on the training track.

“He’s had a huge pre-season and was tracking really well before his injury on Monday.

“Braydon will now attack his rehab with a view to returning to the field during the middle of the season.”

Preuss joined the GIANTS during the off-season with the ruckman playing 18 games over six seasons at Melbourne and North Melbourne previously.
