A new children’s book celebrates one of the pioneers of Australian Football, Tom Wills.

‘Kick it to Me!’, by Neridah McMullin, is about Australian Rules Football and the Indigenous influence of Marn-Grook. It's told through the eyes of a young Tom Wills and how he learned to play Marn-Grook with the children of the local Djab Wurrung tribe where he lived in the Western District of Victoria.

Tom Wills is a national sporting icon and this book  helps educate children where 'Aussie Rules' came from. The AFL’s newest club, the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS, recently named their new training oval at Sydney Olympic Park, Tom Wills Oval.

In the book’s foreward, Collingwood President Eddie McGuire says:  'Kick it to Me!' is a cry heard through the generations, from the red dust of the outback to the asphalt schoolyards of the city, to the hallowed turf of the MCG on Grand Final day. It transports us to another place and time but resonates to this very day, where the game is all that matters and having a kick with your mates is the most important thing in the world.'Kick it to Me!' by Neridah McMullin fills a void that has long existed in children’s writing."
