Four GIANTS; Josh Bruce, Jeremy Cameron, Curtly Hampton and Simon Tunbridge were at Marrylands Park, signing autographs and helping to run an AFL clinic, as part of Holroyd Council’s Australia Day Celebrations.
?GIANTS General Manager of Community and Development, Andrew Hill said that yesterday was a great opportunity for the GIANTS to get involved in the local community.
?“Australia Day at Rooty Hill is a fantastic annual event. So many people from the local community come out to enjoy the day and we are really thankful that we have been a part of it for the last two years.
?“Crowd numbers were slightly down compared to last year due to the heat but they picked up as the weather cooled later on.?
“We’re really excited to be a part of the Greater Western Sydney community. Days like yesterday give us a chance to show our enthusiasm and dedication to becoming a part of the sporting landscape,” he said.?
Hill said that the club was focused on cementing their place in the area through their relationships with local people and businesses.?
“It’s also a great chance for our staff and players to go out and meet as many people in this area as they can. ?
“This club wouldn’t be as developed as it is today without the support of the local community. We’ve had an overwhelming response from them so far and these are the people who are going to have a big say in how successful the GIANTS are in the future.
?“We want to continue to grow this relationship at events like yesterday so that we can build a successful AFL club together,” he said.
