The GIANTS' newest recruit Dylan Addison is no stranger to Western Sydney.

The former Western Bulldog grew up here and went to school in Campbelltown and also played his junior football for the Bankstown Bombers.

"There was always a link there coming back to Sydney and it's a relatively easy move for me so it fits really well," Addison said.

Addison officially begins pre-season training on Monday but was at the club on Friday as he prepares to start the next chapter of his career in orange and charcoal.

"It's exciting, (my) first day day here. I met a few of the boys this morning and had a meeting as well going through some of the game structures and game plans which was good," he said.

"It's a great opportunity for me personally but it's a great challenge as well, to try to be one of the leaders here and bring along the young guys and build them - really fast-track them to becoming strong AFL players.

"There's a hell of a lot of talent up here but it's just getting them to be AFL players as soon as possible."

Addison already knows GIANTS co-captain Callan Ward and new Development Coach Sam Reid from their time at the Bulldogs but he'll also be reunited with GIANTS Head Coach Leon Cameron.

"Leon was the back line coach when I first started down at the Bulldogs and spent a few years with him and then obviously he moved on to Hawthorn and the GIANTS so it will be good to get back working with him," Addison
said.

Addison will join other new GIANTS recruits Shane Mumford, Heath Shaw and Jed Lamb on the training track on Monday and said he will be able to teach the younger players just what it takes to make it in the AFL.

"I just think I'm a pretty competitive person and a mature body to have around the club and help out these younger guys going forward."
