The GIANTS have kicked off their pre-season training camp in Noosa with a punishing first day in the heat on the Sunshine Coast.

The players trained for nearly three hours at Noosa Tigers Football Club in the morning before breaking up in to groups to do boxing, wrestling and gym work in the afternoon.

Young stars Devon Smith and Adam Treloar said the players had enjoyed their first day and worked hard in warm conditions.

Smith said: "We had about three hours on the track this morning. Some of the boys lost about a couple of kilos of fluid. So it's a bit different in the heat."

Treloar said: "A great experience. It's hot and I think Leon and the coaches love training in the heat so the boys are definitely going to get a lot fitter doing this."

The players will spend the week in Noosa with a beach training session planned for the main beach on Tuesday morning at 10am followed by a BBQ with members of the local surf lifesaving club.

On Wednesday the club will hold an open training session at Noosa Tigers and all fans are invited to come down and watch training from 8am and meet the players afterwards.
