The GIANTS are delighted to announce the re-signing of star VFL duo Harvey Hooper and Ryan Hebron for the 2027 season.

Both fresh off stellar 2026 campaigns, the pair will don the orange and charcoal again in 2027 as they look to help lead the club’s exciting VFL program.

Coming out of temporary retirement to join the GIANTS in 2026 following a storied 10-year career with Port Melbourne, Hooper wasted no time in displaying his talents with a starring maiden season with the club.

The former Borough captain and premiership player quickly established himself as one of the GIANTS’ most influential players, showcasing his versatility across half-forward and through the middle.

A consistently high contributor throughout the season, Hooper finished the season averaging 23.7 disposals and 6.1 inside 50s across 18 games, while also showcasing his nous in front of goals with 22 majors for the year.

His outstanding performances were recognised at the club’s Kevin Sheedy Medal count, where he was crowned the GIANTS’ VFL Player of the Year. Hooper’s eye-catching campaign also earned him selection in the 2026 Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year Squad.

Hooper was also a part of the 2026 VFL State Team which registered a thrilling five-point win over South Australia in Adelaide in April.

Meanwhile, entering his sixth season as a GIANT in 2027, Hebron has been a cornerstone of the club’s VFL program since being appointed the club’s inaugural VFL captain ahead of its first season in the competition in 2022.

Having previously represented Werribee and the Sydney Swans’ VFL side, Hebron quickly established himself as a key piece of the GIANTS’ VFL program, setting the standard through his toughness, courage and commitment to the team.

The star swingman has proved to be an incredibly versatile weapon for the GIANTS, with Hebron excelling at either end of the ground across his five seasons in orange and charcoal.

Hebron’s re-signing comes following another brilliant season in 2026 in which he kicked 31 goals from 15 games to sit just outside the top 10 on the league’s goalkicking leaderboard.

Hebron’s leadership and willingness to put the team first have made him a key pillar of the program, and he will once again play a vital role as the GIANTS pursue success in 2027.

GIANTS Head of Talent, Adrian Caruso, was thrilled to have both Hooper and Hebron remain GIANTS for season 2027.

“We’re thrilled to have both Harvey and Ryan continue to help lead our VFL program in 2027,” Caruso said.

“Their re-signings are a clear indication of not only the environment we’ve created at the GIANTS, but the exciting potential the pair see in this group and what we can achieve.

“Their football speaks for itself, but their experience is also vital in helping our club’s exciting young talent reach its potential.

“With preparations for next season well under way, we’re really excited to have Harvey and Ryan locked away as we look to construct a really competitive side for 2027.”
