Debutant Josh Kelly is one of three changes to the GIANTS side that will play St Kilda at Etihad Stadium this Saturday.

Number two draft pick Kelly comes into the team alongside defender Lachie Plowman and midfielder Jacob Townsend who’ll both play their first games for the season.

The GIANTS have made three changes to the side that defeated the Swans by 32 points in Round 1, with Phil Davis (kidney), Rhys Palmer (hamstring) and Dylan Shiel (quad) missing due to injury.

Shiel is expected to miss the next fortnight after suffering the quad injury at training on Wednesday.

GIANTS Head Coach Leon Cameron said Kelly deserves his opportunity.

"He showed terrific form down in Wagga and then when we played Adelaide down in Blacktown he played really well," he said.

"And it was the same in his first game against the Sydney reserves, so three weeks in a row his form's been terrific.

"Spots are really tight and it's a fantastic position to be in as a club to have five or six guys banging down the door and it puts pressure on the guys in the AFL side to perform each week."

While Kelly will become the 61st player to represent the GIANTS, at the other end of the experience scale defender Josh Hunt will play his 200th AFL match.

“He played 198 games at the Geelong Football Club and won two premierships, and to come to our football club and display some of the attributes we’ve seen already with his leadership and his willingness to help our young players has been fantastic,” said Cameron.

“It’s going to be a cracking game. Two young sides going head to head, and both had victories in Round 1.

“It’s going to be a really really good contest,” he said.

The game will be shown LIVE on 7mate in Sydney and Fox Footy all across Australia.
