The GIANTS are delighted to launch their Past Players Association ahead of the club’s 2019 finals campaign.

While proud to be the youngest club in the AFL, the GIANTS Past Players Association is the next step in the evolution of the club which is set to take part in a fourth straight finals campaign next month.

The Association will be chaired by former player Tommy Bugg who played the first four years of his 96-game career at the GIANTS.

Bugg, 26, recently retired from AFL due to growing business interests outside the game with the original GIANT a co-founder and the managing director of social media and influencer marketing agency ZOOZ group.

“The GIANTS are a young club and now that I’m not playing anymore, I’m looking forward to this opportunity to reconnect and give back to the club that gave me my start as a player,” said Bugg.

“I’m really proud of being part of the early years of this club which feels like a family to so many people the moment they walk through the door.

“We obviously don’t have the decades and decades of history to lean on like some other clubs but I’m looking forward to this group being part of something special in the years to come.”

Chief Executive David Matthews said he’s delighted to see the Past Players Association take off in just the club’s eighth year.

“This is a timely initiative. We have many outstanding players at the GIANTS and they also happen to be outstanding people. It’s great to maintain and nurture a connection," he said.

“Our history is very recent and we are writing it every day. To have young men such as Tommy Bugg, Dylan Addison Jon Giles and Joel Patfull want to maintain a lasting relationship with the GIANTS speaks volumes of the culture we’ve built in a short space of time.

“We look forward to seeing our Past Players Association continue to grow and evolve over the years, just the like the club more broadly.”
