GIANTS duo Jack Ough and Harvey Hooper have been recognised for their stellar seasons with selection in the 2026 Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year squad.

Ough and Hooper take their place amongst the squad of 48 players following their brilliant individual seasons for the club’s VFL side.

Ough earns his selection after starring at VFL level this season, with the 19-year-old averaging 31.8 disposals, 14 contested possessions, and 5.5 tackles per game across 13 VFL appearances.

Ough’s brilliant VFL form ultimately saw him rewarded with an AFL debut in round 17, with the talented teenager going on to feature in five AFL games to close out the year.

Meanwhile Hooper’s selection in the squad comes after a remarkable debut season in orange and charcoal.

Joining the club last summer after a brilliant career with Port Melbourne, the former Borough captain and premiership player wasted no time in showing his value to the GIANTS where he was consistently amongst his side’s best throughout the season.

Spending time across both half forward and on ball, Hooper finished the season averaging 23.7 disposals and 6.1 inside 50s across 18 games, while also kicking 22 goals.

His starring season saw him crowned the GIANTS VFL Player of the Year at last week’s Kevin Sheedy Medal count.

Following Wednesday’s squad announcement, the final VFL Team of the Year will be named at the 2026 VFL and VFLW Awards on Monday, September 14.  The event will be streamed live and free on AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App from 7:00pm.
