Star midfielder Bec Beeson will again take the helm as GIANTS’ captain for the 2026 AFLW season, marking her third in the role.
Beeson heads an extended leadership team, with Alyce Parker and Tarni Evans also retaining their roles as leaders of the young GIANTS’ squad.
The trio will be joined by 2025 All-Australian Cambridge McCormick, star forward Georgia Garnett and off-season recruit Tilly Lucas-Rodd, who brings leadership experience as the former captain of Hawthorn.
As the last standing inaugural GIANT and an AFL Sydney recruit, Beeson’s renewed role recognises the impact she has had on the club and game’s development, across 11 seasons in the AFLW.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have the backing of the players again as captain, it’s an honour to represent the GIANTS and our team in this way,” Beeson says.
“We’ve gelled really well as a group with some new faces coming into the side this season and we’re excited to get going after a long off-season.
Executive General Manager of AFLW, Alison Zell congratulated Beeson on her continuing accomplishments as a leader for the club.
“Bec has been the backbone of our AFLW team for ten seasons now and we are thrilled to have her leading the AFLW side once again in 2026,” Zell says.
“Bec continues to set the standard for us on and off-field and has dually helped to create and embody our values over her ten seasons as a GIANT.
“We are ecstatic to again have Tarni and Alyce recognised as leaders for the group by their teammates and for Cambridge and Georgia to be rewarded for their impact over their time at the club.
“It’s also a testament to Tilly’s standing and how quickly they’ve endeared themselves to our club to be elevated to the leadership group in their first year in the program as well.”
