Emerging forward Harry Himmelberg has signed a four-year contract extension with the club, committing to the GIANTS until the end of 2023.

The 22-year-old is a star on the rise, entering his fourth season in the competition with 42 games and 39 goals under his belt.

GIANTS List Manager Jason McCartney said the club is thrilled to secure Himmelberg’s signature on a long-term contract.

“Harry is an outstanding young player and has quickly established himself as a popular and important member of our playing group,” McCartney said.

“He works hard to get the best out of himself and we’re really excited about where he can take his football over the coming years.”

The GIANTS Academy graduate from Wagga Wagga in the NSW Riverina was drafted at pick 16 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft and made his debut as a defender in round 17, 2016.

Originally drafted as a forward, Himmelberg showed his flexibility to play at either end of the ground over his first two seasons before a breakout 2017 finals series where he kicked a career-high four goals in the Preliminary Final in the absence of Jeremy Cameron.

After playing every game for the GIANTS in 2018, Himmelberg said he’s excited to put pen to paper to don the orange jumper for the next four years.

“I’ve loved my time at the club so far and I was really keen to sign a long-term deal to stay,” Himmelberg said.

“I’m proud to be a GIANT and really excited about what this group can achieve together over the coming years.

“I’m really glad to re-sign early in the season and now just can’t wait to take on the Tigers this weekend.”

Himmelberg is part of the club’s emerging leaders group and studying a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design outside of football.

The GIANTS take on Richmond at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday at 4:35pm.
