Women’s football continues its remarkable rise, with the AFL announcing a new AFLW club membership record for the second consecutive year. A total of 84,644 AFLW club members across the league represents almost 11 per cent growth on last season and surpasses the previous record of 76,356 set in 2024.
Across the league twelve clubs set new membership records, with the GIANTS one of those as more members than ever joined the Orange Army in support of the GIANTS and women’s football.
This season, the GIANTS set a new club AFLW membership record of 3,273, marking a 14 per cent increase on 2024 and reflecting the growing connection between the club’s women’s program and its loyal supporters.
The growth wasn’t limited to memberships - GIANTS fans also showed up louder and prouder than ever, with crowds rising 18 per cent year-on-year.
The latest figures come following a year that has seen the competition reach new levels of excitement and professionalism. From attacking, high-scoring football to strong attendances across Indigenous and Pride Rounds, AFLW has continued its upward trajectory in its milestone 10th season.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of AFLW, Alison Zell, said it was exciting to see the competition set many new highs across the season.
“It’s fantastic to see that the AFLW continues to grow and evolve and welcome new fans to the game,” Zell said.
“For the GIANTS, along with 11 other clubs, to set new AFLW membership records this season is an amazing achievement and it's amazing to see such growth in a season in which we celebrated 10 seasons of AFLW.
“It’s also really pleasing to see that the GIANTS’ crowd numbers had strong growth this year in both Sydney and Canberra as I know our players love playing in both regions in front of such passionate GIANTS fans.”
For the GIANTS, the record numbers reflect the strength of the club’s one-club identity and the commitment to growing the women’s game.
The surge in support underscores the passion of the Orange Army and the club’s ongoing work to inspire the next generation of female footballers across Western Sydney and the ACT.
As the AFLW competition continues to grow, so too does the GIANTS’ role within it - on the field, in the community, and in the stands.
