For long-time GIANTS member Aidan Frankcombe, being part of the Orange Army has always been about connection - to family, to his club and to the community that supports it. But this year, that connection came with a special reward.
Frankcombe, who is based in Ulverstone, Tasmania, was one of three lucky winners of the 2025 Membership Reflections Holidays Prize, taking home a Reflections Holiday park gift pack valued at $2,500 thanks to the GIANTS’ Membership Partner, Reflections Holidays.
Frankcombe recently used his prize to take his family on a weekend getaway to the Reflections Holiday park just south of Port Macquarie, in Bonny Hills - a trip he said he and the family loved.
“It was right on the beach, and they did a reptile show for us on the Monday which was great,” Frankcombe said.
“They brought a guy in with crocodiles, snakes, turtles. There was free face painting for the kids too. We had a great time!”
The Frankcombe family made the most of their time away, with Aidan’s mum even joining them for the stay.
“My mum ended up booking a cabin, so she stayed up there with us too. It was just an awesome place,” he said.
“You’re walking distance from this beautiful beach, and being from Tassie it was pretty awesome to go and chill at a beach where you’re not freezing,” he laughed.
Frankcombe’s GIANTS journey started back in 2012 - before the club had even played a game.
“Mum was born in Western Sydney, and my grandparents are from there too,” he said.
“I used to be a Swans supporter, but when you have a team come in from Western Sydney, you have no choice but to make the move and so I’ve been a GIANTS fan from day one.”
Now based in Tasmania, Frankcombe has carried that passion across the Bass Strait, turning his membership into a family tradition.
“The whole family are GIANTS fans - except for one middle boy who supports the Hawks,” he laughed.
“We go to every game in Tassie, and we try to do get up to one game a year in Sydney. We went to Opening Round against Collingwood this year and that was really good.”
When asked about his favourite GIANTS memory, Frankcombe didn’t hesitate.
“The first game I took my son to in Hobart,” he said.
“They weren’t doing a banner that day, but someone asked us if we’d like to stand out on the ground and high-five the players as they ran out. We did that and it was awesome - and we smashed North Melbourne.
“We waited about 40 minutes after the game and all the players gave up their time before getting on the bus. That was amazing.”
He also recalls being in the crowd for a famous GIANTS win over the Swans in Launceston during Covid.
“The Swans kicked six behinds in a row, and we just held on. It was unbelievable.”
