Who will top the GIANTS' vote count in the 2025 Brownlow Medal? Who will join AFL Brownlow royalty? Which GIANTS are to set to poll for the first time?

GIANTS Media have had their say on which GIANTS have the best chances of polling on Monday night.

Best Chances

Star midfield duo Tom Green and Finn Callaghan are the GIANTS’ two clear standouts heading into Monday night’s count.

Both honoured with selection in this year’s 44-man All-Australian squad, Green and Callaghan endured career-best seasons in 2025 and should poll heavily in the club’s record-tying 16-win home and away season.

Green will enter Monday night as a proven vote getter after the midfield bull finished fifth in last year’s Brownlow Medal with 27 votes despite remarkably not making the All-Australian squad.

Putting together a more consistent season in 2025, Green enters this year’s count as a dark horse following another brilliant campaign which saw him finish fifth in the competition in both total (660) and average disposals (29.5), first in contested possessions per game (15.4), first in ground ball gets per game (10.1), as well as second in clearances per game (8.3).

With afl.com.au’s Brownlow Predictor having Green poll 26 votes this season, there’s certainly a chance the star midfielder is near the top of the leaderboard at the conclusion of Monday night.

Likewise, Callaghan could expect to hear his name read out often on Monday night after a breakout season from the 22-year-old young gun.

Just his fourth season in the competition, the line-breaking midfielder took his game to new heights in 2025, averaging 28.1 touches, 5.7 inside 50s, 4.8 clearances, 4.5 tackles, as well as 570 meters gained to establish himself as one of the competition’s brightest young stars.

With just six career Brownlow votes to his name – and all of those coming last year – Callaghan is set to smash that tally this year, with the AFL’s Brownlow Predictor suggesting the young gun will poll 21 votes after awarding him six best-on-ground performances.

Regular Pollers

Club legends Toby Greene, Josh Kelly, and Lachie Whitfield have often led the way for the GIANTS on Brownlow night and while their younger counterparts will likely top them in this year’s count, there’scertainly still several games you can expect to see them feature in on Monday night.

Greene, who endured another strong season up forward for the GIANTS, can certainly expect to hear his name in Monday’s count, with the star forward tipped to finish with 11 votes and three best-on-ground finishes according to the AFL’s Brownlow Predictor.

While enduring an injury-interrupted 2025 campaign, Kelly is another who consistently polls well, with the classy midfielder entering this year’s count as the club’s all-time Brownlow Medal vote getter with 94 career votes.

Meanwhile Whitfield is another with a proven track record on Brownlow night, with the dashing defender sitting fifth on the club’s all-time list with 65 Brownlow votes.

Following another starring season which saw him named in the All-Australian squad, one would expect the silky defender to add to that career tally on Monday night.

First-timers?

Monday night could see a host of GIANTS receive their first Brownlow votes, with the likes of Aaron Cadman, Lachie Ash, Harry Rowston, and Xavier O’Halloran all having career-best performances across the season.

At the top of the list of potential first-time Brownlow vote recipients is Cadman who had several starring games across the season to establish himself as one of the league’s most promising and exciting young key forwards.

Kicking a career-best 44 goals this season, Cadman put forward a host of eye-catching games sure to earn himself his first career Brownlow votes, with his bag of five against the Lions in round 14 and his career-high six majors against the Cats in round 18 both sure to have his name feature in the votes.

Ash is another sure to pick up his first career votes following a starring season in which he was named in the All-Australian squad for the first time.

Averaging 27.9 disposals and a whopping 543 meters gained per game, Ash was a driving force out of the GIANTS’ backline in 2025 and has given himself every chance of hearing his name read out for the first time on Monday night.

Rowston too has given himself a chance at earning his first career Brownlow votes, with his starring four-goal haul against the Suns in round 23 sure to give him every chance of polling.

O’Halloran is another looking to claim his first Brownlow votes, with his career-best 27 disposal, two-goal performance against the Eagles in round 17 his best chance.

Star Defenders Robbed As We Know It’s A Midfielder’s Award

Always dominated by midfielders, there’s no doubting that defenders don’t get their fair share of love on Brownlow night and there’ll be no surprises if star defender Sam Taylor doesn’t poll on Monday despite another brilliant season in which he earnt his second All-Australian blazer.

Sitting with a career Brownlow vote tally of just six votes in his previous 111 games, it’s likely the gun defender won’t hear his name on Monday night as the midfielders get all the plaudits once again.

Likewise star teammate Connor Idun is another defender sure to get the rough end of the stick on Monday night. One of the competition’s most underrated players, Idun will be looking to add to his single career Brownlow Medal vote on Monday following another strong season silencing some of the game’s best forwards.
