The GIANTS are delighted to have locked away yet another of their exciting young talents, with promising draftee Cody Angove putting pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension.

Already contracted for next season, the new deal will see the dashing young wingman remain a GIANT until at least the end of the 2028 AFL season.

Drafted by the club out of Western Australia in the first round of last year’s draft, Angove impressed from the get-go in his maiden summer at the GIANTS where he was quick to put his name in contention for an early-season AFL debut following several encouraging performances across the pre-season.

The speedy teenager continued to press his claims for an AFL debut through the VFL where a stellar run of form saw him rewarded with an AFL debut in the club’s round nine clash with the Cats in Geelong.

A 182cm utility capable of playing on all three lines, Angove’s mix of speed and endurance, as well as his sharp skills and his great desire for the contest, has seen him look right at home at AFL level as a hard-running winger for Adam Kingsley’s side.

One of four debutants already this season, Angove is a part of an exciting wave of young talent at the club as the GIANTS aim for success both now and consistently in the future.

Following his strong AFL debut in round nine, Angove continued to perform well and hold his spot in the GIANTS’ lineup for a month until an unfortunate stress fracture issue in his back forced the exciting youngster to the sidelines last week.

GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said it was fantastic to lock away another of the club’s talented youngsters.

"We’re thrilled to extend Cody’s time at the GIANTS,” McCartney said.

“Cody is a talented young kid with a great work ethic and we see him as a long-term player for our club.

"From the moment he arrived he has shown a great desire to learn and improve and we’re excited about his potential.

“His early performances, both in the pre-season and then through the VFL, backed up everything we believed about him when we drafted him and it’s been great to see him already show his talent at AFL level.

“Having Cody recommit alongside a host of other recent re-signings is further testament to the belief our group has about what we can achieve as a club, both now and in the future.”

Angove’s new deal comes on the back of a long list of teammates to recently recommit to the GIANTS, with young stars Finn Callaghan, Darcy Jones, Connor Idun, and Toby Bedford all inking new deals in recent months.
