The GIANTS will welcome tough midfielder Marc Sheather and club debutant Hugo Birks to Saturday’s VFL side for their clash with the Northern Bullants in Blacktown.
Sheather will aim to continue his stellar VFL campaign on Saturday after missing last week’s game through suspension, while Birks will look to make the most of his first VFL opportunity of the year as he wears the orange and charcoal for the first time.
A VFL-listed GIANT who played one game for the Swans’ VFL side last year, Birks has earnt his place in Saturday’s side following some red-hot form in the local AFL Sydney competition, with the young forward kicking 45 goals in just seven games this season for the UNSW Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs – including bags of 11 and 12 goals in back-to-back games last month.
Sheather and Birks join a VFL team which will feature 12 AFL-listed GIANTS on Saturday as the side looks to rebound from three straight losses after starting the season 6-0.
Exiting from last week’s side is Nick Madden who will make his AFL debut against Port Adelaide on Saturday, as well as promising draftee Jack Ough who will be sidelined for two to three weeks with a shoulder issue.
The GIANTS will face a Northern Bullants side which currently sits winless in their nine games this season.
The GIANTS and the Bullants will clash at 11am on Saturday in Blacktown.
