The debut of impressive teenager James Leake headlines the GIANTS’ side for their huge Opening Round clash with the Collingwood Magpies on Sunday at ENGIE Stadium.
A first-round draft pick from 2023, Leake had an injury interrupted maiden season at the club last year but has returned to full fitness and following an impressive pre-season will now get his chance at AFL level in Sunday’s massive season opener against the Pies.
Leake is joined in the team by a host of GIANTS playing in their first Opening Round clash after missing last year’s inaugural event, with Finn Callaghan, Darcy Jones, Conor Stone, Lachlan Keeffe, and Max Gruzewski all named in Sunday’s side.
Ruck Kieren Briggs will also feature after missing last week’s AAMI Community Series clash with Carlton due to illness, while skipper Toby Greene will lead the way alongside vice-captains Josh Kelly and Stephen Coniglio.
As confirmed on Tuesday, Jesse Hogan (thumb), Jake Stringer (hamstring), and Tom Green (calf) will all miss through injury.
The GIANTS and the Pies will get under way at 3:20pm at ENGIE Stadium on Sunday.
