GIANTS skipper Toby Greene has capped off his stellar 2023 season with a career-best tally at Monday night’s Brownlow Medal count at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium.

Celebrating his 30th birthday on the night, Greene collected a team-high 20 votes following a standout season which saw him named in his third All-Australian team as well as named All-Australian captain for the first time in his 12-year career.

After kicking 60 goals in the home and away season, also the highest tally of his career, the inspirational skipper was rewarded with six best-on-ground performances from the umpires.

Prior to Monday night’s count, the enigmatic forward’s best Brownlow tally was 12 votes back in 2020.

As well as finishing fourth in the Coleman Medal, Greene ranked elite in disposals (17.9 per game) and marks (4.5) to firmly establish himself as one of the competition’s very best.

Greene was closely followed in Monday’s count by his namesake Tom Green who also landed a new career-best tally with 16 votes following a breakout season from the bullocking 22-year-old midfielder.

Green eclipsed his previous best of six votes in 2021 after a remarkable season which saw him rank first across the entire competition for disposals per game, averaging 32.1 touches an outing to go along with 6.1 clearances and 5.3 tackles.

The contested beast, who was recognised for his dominant season with his maiden selection in the All-Australian squad, polled the maximum three votes in the GIANTS’ round one win over the Crows, the round 13 win over North Melbourne, and in a 15-point loss to the Bulldogs in round eight.

Vice-captains Stephen Coniglio (10 votes) and Josh Kelly (eight votes) rounded out the top five for the GIANTS alongside Lachie Whitfield (five votes) after strong seasons from the veteran trio.

Jesse Hogan was awarded maximum votes for his career-best nine-goal performance against Essendon in round 23, while Sam Taylor was shown some rare love as a key defender on Brownlow night with a three-vote performance against the Suns in round 19.

10 GIANTS polled on Brownlow night for a total of 71 votes across the season.

Meanwhile GIANTS star Harry Himmelberg was rewarded on Monday night for his high-flying antics, winning the 2023 Four’N Twenty Mark of the Year for his spectacular grab in round one against Adelaide.

Holding two of the three finalist spots, with his huge hanger against Hawthorn in round five also in contention, Himmelberg’s monster speccy in the season-opener against the Crows was named the best of the season.

The 27-year-old took home the Alex Jesaulenko Medal, $10,000, a pie warmer, and a year’s supply of pies thanks to Four’N Twenty for his efforts.
