Rising young star Finn Callaghan has signed a new two-year contract with the GIANTS.

Hot on the heels of Tom Green signing a four-year extension with the club, Callaghan has put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him in orange until at least the end of 2025.

The 19-year-old is just a season into his career at the club after being selected at pick three in the 2021 national draft.

He played five games in his debut season last year before being sidelined with an ongoing foot injury in the back half of the year.

Having impressed in his recent return to full training following off-season foot surgery, Callaghan is looking ahead to the upcoming season with excitement.

“It was a pretty easy decision to re-sign with the club,” Callaghan said.

“I’m very thankful and grateful for everything they’ve done for me over the first few years which was a major part of re-signing.

“I just really love the people inside the club, and it definitely feels like home. The people we’ve got are brilliant and I’m just really excited for what’s to come.”

GIANTS General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said securing Callaghan’s signature is another great endorsement of the direction of the club.

“We’ve come into this season with a new head coach and coaching staff and a new game plan that the players have really bought in to,” McCartney said.

“Everyone is approaching the season with great optimism and Finn extending his contract before the season has started is a great reflection of that, as well as Finn’s ongoing commitment to the GIANTS.

“We’ve seen glimpses of why he was so highly rated through the draft process and we’re looking forward to seeing him back on the field and making further strides in 2023.

“Finn’s character makes him a popular member of the playing group and his drive to improve himself and those around him, as well as his passion for the club, is one of many reasons we were so keen to extend his contract.”

The GIANTS will take on the Gold Coast Suns in a practice match at Blacktown International SportsPark this Saturday at 12:10pm with a signing session with the players to follow.
