The families of the GIANTS’ first-year players and new recruits have been officially welcomed to the club as part of the annual induction weekend.

Accompanied by their families, the GIANTS’ newest faces gave their parents, siblings and grandparents a tour of the GIANTS’ facilities, met with senior players and staff - included briefings about the players' new lives - and watched as their sons were put through a gruelling training session.

Many travelled from across the country to attend, with Darcy Jones’ family making their way from Western Australia.

Having welcomed players from interstate since the club’s foundation, the GIANTS have a finely-tuned induction process, with Welfare and Player Development Manager Dylan Addison highlighting the importance of the weekend.

“Recruiting players and relocating them from across Australia is something we’ve been doing for a long time and it’s a really important part of the club,” Addison said.

“We put a lot of time into our induction process, and we take a lot of pride in how we induct our players and certainly their families as well.

“The weekend provides a great opportunity for the families of our newest GIANTS to see the club, see what we do and ultimately check out the space where they’ve sent their son.”

John and Diane Cadman, the parents of GIANTS draftee and number one pick Aaron, said they thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.

“It’s been a fantastic experience, everyone’s lovely, the club has been great, and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed it,” Diane said.

“Aaron’s been loving it, he’s really enjoying himself and he couldn’t have gone to a better club,” said John.
