Young forward Brent Daniels has suffered a fracture to the Lisfranc joint in his foot during pre-season training on Monday.

Daniels will undergo surgery this week with the 22-year-old to be sidelined for the first part of the season.

GIANTS Head of Medical Services James Rahme said:

“This is a disappointing injury for Brent who was having a great pre-season.

“Brent will have surgery this week before we determine a timeline for his return.

“We expect him to be sidelined until approximately round 10.

“It’s a tricky injury so we’ll take our time to make sure he’s fully fit to return in the first half of the season.”

The GIANTS will play a practice match against the Swans in Albury on February 25 before an AAMI Community Series match-up with Collingwood at GIANTS Stadium on March 6.

The GIANTS open their season with a blockbuster Sydney Derby against the Swans at Accor Stadium on March 19.
