A late-blooming running defender/wingman, Jacob Wehr joined the GIANTS with pick 59 as a mature-aged recruit in the 2020 AFL Draft after impressing in the Woodville-West Torrens premiership-winning SANFL side. A classy left-footer, Wehr is known for his pinpoint accuracy and clean possession by both hand and foot. After failing to break through for a senior game in his debut season, Wehr was delisted but then re-drafted as a rookie by the GIANTS in the 2021 AFL Rookie Draft. Wehr made the most of this chance, breaking through to play 10 games in 2022 and earning himself the club’s Rising Star Award. After securing a spot in the starting 22 heading into 2023, Wehr missed most of the season after suffering a serious shoulder injury in a big collision against the Eagles in round two.
