Superstar midfielder Josh Kelly has committed his future to the club and become a GIANT for life, signing an eight-year contract extension.

Having played 151 games for the club, Kelly is in the prime of his career and has cemented himself as one of the stars of the AFL.

At 26-years of age, Kelly has already won All-Australian selection, won a Kevin Sheedy Medal as GIANTS Club Champion and represented Victoria in the Bushfire Appeal State of Origin match in 2020.

Through 19 games this year, Kelly has been in career best form, averaging 25 possessions a game and kicking 15 goals while playing a range of positions and stepping up as acting captain.

GIANTS Chief Executive David Matthews said this is a great day for all GIANTS members and supporters.

“This is a great endorsement of the culture and the future direction of the club and we are delighted to have Josh Kelly as a GIANT for life,” said Matthews.

GIANTS General Manager of Football Jason McCartney said “Josh is a young leader of our club, he wants to play consistent finals football and clearly believes the club will be contending for several years to come.

“We are delighted Josh now joins the likes of Stephen Coniglio, Toby Greene, Lachie Whitfield and Nick Haynes as players that’ll spend their whole career at the club.”

Kelly said he was grateful for the opportunities provided by the GIANTS.

“I couldn’t be happier to commit my future to the GIANTS as I see big things coming for the club,” said Kelly.

“I’ve been a GIANT since being drafted in 2013 and after weighing everything up, just can’t wait to continue building on what we have here at the GIANTS.

“The club has grown considerably since I’ve arrived. We’ve got a strong track record of playing finals football and I believe the best is yet to come for the GIANTS.

“I can’t wait for what lies ahead for this team and the club.”
