The GIANTS will make at least four forced changes for Friday night football against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

Phil Davis and Jacob Hopper are automatically ruled out after both suffered concussions in Sunday night’s loss to the Power.

Davis had vision issues following an incident in the third quarter and was subbed out at three quarter-time. He failed a concussion test post-match.

Hopper was stretchered from the field late in the game after being kicked in the head during an attempted smother. He went to hospital following the game but was cleared of any structural issues and didn’t require any further treatment.

GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said:

“Those two boys will go straight into the 12-day concussion protocols and will need to pass all their relevant tests to be available next week.

“Phil is doing well and Jacob has also been really lucky considering what a serious incident it was.

“He’s going well and feeling much better.”

Rising Star favourite Tom Green will miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the fourth quarter on Sunday.

“Tom hurt his hamstring late in the game with scans revealing a low-grade strain,” Ball said.

“We think he’ll miss at least two matches and then assess how his recovery is going after that.”

Sam Reid will also miss Friday’s match after injuring his ankle during Sunday night’s game. Scans on Monday showed he has aggravated a previous medial ligament injury.

“Sam’s hurt the medial ligament in his left ankle again,” Ball said.

“He’s had some issues with the same ankle for a few years now and will miss at least a week this time.”

Daniel Lloyd also injured his ankle in the same match but remains a test to play in round 21.

“It’s a short week so we’ll just see how he pulls up across the back end of the week to see if he’s available for selection,” Ball said.

Captain Stephen Coniglio won’t play this week as he continues to manage soreness in the toe he had operated on earlier this season.

“We know it was a serious injury that Stephen suffered earlier this year,” Ball said.

“He’s getting some pain in his toe as he builds up his training so we’ll let it settle and then look to increase his training to the point he’s able to play again.”

Jeremy Finlayson will be unavailable for selection for the coming weeks as he remained in Queensland last week when the club relocated back to Melbourne. Finlayson stayed to be with his pregnant partner who is due to give birth in the coming weeks.

Bobby Hill will get out of quarantine on Thursday and look to re-join the team in Melbourne but having been confined to a hotel for 14 days, the small forward will be unavailable for selection this week.

Ruckman Braydon Preuss also went through the transition hub and will be assessed once he resumes training as he returns from a pec injury.

The GIANTS take on Geelong on Friday night at GMHBA Stadium with live coverage on 7mate across the country and on Fox Footy and Kayo.
