Three GIANTS players have been named in the NEAFL Eastern Conference Team of the Year announced at the Mulrooney Medal Presentation in Canberra.

Defender Sam Darley, ruckman Tom Downie and midfielder Anthony Miles have been rewarded for their solid NEAFL form for the UWS GIANTS in 2013.

Downie’s performance in the ruck for the UWS GIANTS led to the 20-year-old former national basketballer making his AFL debut against Fremantle in Round 20.

Miles, from North Albury, played three AFL games in 2013 and was a key member of the UWS GIANTS midfield while Darley added another four AFL games to his career tally this year playing across half back.

The Team of the Year will be captained by Belconnen’s James Bennett who also took out the Mulrooney Medal as the NEAFL’s Best and Fairest.

The NEAFL Eastern Conference Grand Final will be played this Sunday between the Sydney Swans and Belconnen in Canberra.
