GIANTS Chairman Tony Shepherd AO has congratulated former Board member Joseph Carrozzi on being named a Member of the Order of Australia  in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Mr Carrozzi has been recognised for his “significant service to business, and to the community through multicultural and not-for-profit organisations.”

Mr Carrozzi joined the GIANTS Board in 2011 ahead of the club’s inaugural season in the AFL. He was elected as Deputy Chairman in 2014 and continued in this role until 2018, playing a key role as chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Mr Shepherd said today’s honour is well deserved.

“This is wonderful recognition of the tireless work Joseph has done over a long period of time,” said Mr Shepherd.

“Joseph has an extraordinary passion for the development of Western Sydney and has always been a strong advocate for the many multicultural communities that are part of this region.”

“On behalf of everyone at the GIANTS, we congratulate Joseph on this acknowledgement.

“More broadly, I’m delighted to see so many people connected to Australian Rules football recognised today as the community connection of our code is central to everything we do.

“In particular, I’d like to congratulate Neale Daniher on his elevation to AO for his tireless fund-raising for a cure for Motor Neuron Disease.

“Today’s Big Freeze at the SCG is a wonderful opportunity for the entire nation to support Neale’s tremendous work as he continues to inspire all of us while facing his own challenges.”
