Despite the GIANTS’ heartbreaking six-point loss to Essendon last Thursday night, two GIANTS have been recognised for their individual efforts during the thriller at Marvel Stadium.

Zac Williams and Stephen Coniglio were both named in AFL.com.au’s Team of the Week, while Williams’ game received 10 votes from Leon Cameron and Bombers coach John Worsfold.

Williams became the fifth GIANT to record a ‘perfect match’ with his 29-disposal, seven-mark performance off half-back receiving 10 votes in the 2019 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.

The 24-year-old is having one of his best seasons, averaging a career-high 23.5 disposals and 5.33 rebounds per game in 2019.

Despite Coniglio being named on the interchange in AFL.com.au’s Team of the Week for his game-high 33 disposals, the GIANTS vice-captain didn’t poll a vote from the coaches.

Young midfielder Jacob Hopper received five votes for his impressive display in the midfield, while fellow midfielder Josh Kelly received one vote for his 28 disposal and one goal game.

Coniglio and gun midfielder Tim Taranto are the highest-polling GIANTS in the 2019 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award with 44 votes in equal 13th place, 38 votes behind Geelong’s Tim Kelly who leads the count after 15 rounds.
