Where and When: Sunday, March 28 at 6.10pm EDT/3:10pm WST, Optus Stadium

Last time they met: The GIANTS beat the Dockers during an otherwise unsuccessful three-week trip to Perth late last season, winning by 38 points in the round 14 game after losses to Sydney and West Coast had pushed them out of the top eight. After grabbing 10 marks in his debut against West Coast one match earlier, Jake Riccardi took another nine, kicking four goals to win a Rising Star nomination. Lachie Whitfield was relentless, Tim Taranto was busy and Matt de Boer did (another) fantastic job on Nat Fyfe, but Josh Kelly missed most of the match after a nasty head knock.

What it means for the GIANTS: The GIANTS are still looking to get their first win on the board for the new season, after falling to St Kilda in a narrow round one loss. There were plenty of opportunities in that game, with 68 entries in the wet Sydney weather and a two-goal lead midway through the last quarter, but the Saints finished stronger.

Where’s the opposition at? The Dockers were round one losers too, beaten by 22 points in their game against Melbourne at the MCG. They lost defenders Alex Pearce and Joel Hamling to knee injuries in the process, with youngster Liam Henry also in doubt this week and names such as Michael Walters and Rory Lobb still sitting on their injury list. Young midfielders Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong and Adam Cerra were three of the Dockers' biggest four ball-winners along with Fyfe, while Matt Taberner kicked three of their eight goals.

The number: 34. That’s the number of hit-outs Matt Flynn racked up in his long-awaited and impressive senior debut against the Saints, to go with 18 possessions, five clearances and six marks. This week, young Docker Lloyd Meek awaits.

In the mix: Brent Daniels and Tom Hutchesson graduated from hamstring rehab over the weekend and are ready to go. Xavier O’Halloran was lucky but unlucky against the Saints; listed as the medical sub, he didn’t have to watch a teammate go down injured, but that also meant he didn’t get a run. He’ll be in the mix again. Jake Riccardi’s ankle will be tested during the week, while Jeremy Finlayson and Matt Buntine are both available after playing against the Swans in a reserves game last week.
