Following today’s announcement that Tom Harley will move into an AFL dedicated role in 2011, Team GWS Chief Executive Officer Dale Holmes has thanked Harley for his outstanding work throughout the campaign.

"Tom has been wonderful assistance across this campaign. His insights and experience have certainly been of great value to both our football department and the wider business units of Team GWS.

"We wish Tom the best with his growing role in the media and his future commitments with the AFL developing the code in NSW and greater Sydney."

AFL General Manager – National and International Development, David Matthews made the announcement today that Harley will continue his work with the AFL in 2011 having made an excellent contribution to a number of projects in 2010.

In 2010 Harley primarily focussed on the AIS/AFL Academy program and Team GWS project. His role with the AIS/AFL Academy has been working with Jason McCartney and the other coaches and staff to enhance the sporting, personal, educational development and growth of the 30 scholarship holders. In 2011 this role will continue.

In relation to Team GWS, he has been working across several areas of the business including commercial and football development during the Club’s campaign phase. With the Club having now been officially granted a license, Harley has elected to continue to work with the AFL central body and will not stay involved with GWS.

"This year Tom played a pivotal role in the campaign phase for Team GWS and now that the license is granted Tom’s role is now coming to an end," David Matthews said.

"We are delighted to be able to continue working with Tom on a number of projects including the AFL-AIS Academy with a focus on player development, as well as a number of other development and commercial projects,"

"He has been a terrific Ambassador for the game this year and we looking forward to continuing our working relationship with him in 2011.

Recently, Harley has also undertaken the role as the with the Toyota AFL Premiership Cup Ambassador for the month of September.
