Pre Season training was in full swing today at the Blacktown Olympic Park athletics track. With players and staff back at the club after the break, the GIANTS are preparing for their first match against Sydney AFL at Monarch Oval, Campbelltown on Saturday, February 5 at 4.30pm.

GIANTS Football Manager, Craig Lambert said that the players have settled in well and are making solid progress since returning from their Christmas break.

“When the boys first arrived before Christmas, they were just getting used to the new environment. Since they’ve come back after the break, they’ve gelled really well.

“The way they’ve interacted, not just with the playing group but with the coaching staff, has been fantastic and their training has really gone to another level in the last couple of weeks,” he said.

Lambert was optimistic about the GIANTS progress and said that he was excited about the prospect of the club’s first match for 2011.

“The players have all been working on different aspects of their games but overall they’ve made some huge advancement,” Lambert said.

“It will be exciting to see Jeremy Cameron out there, I’ve heard a lot about him, he’s a big person, 6”/4’ and the way he moves is exciting. Adam Treloar, Curtly Hampton and Jack Hombsch have all showed some amazing signs on the track and I can’t wait to see them in a game situation.”

Lambert said that the club will be working with the players individually and as a group to refine their match technique before the first game.

“Over the next couple of weeks we’ve got some work to do on skill acquisition and we will be fine tuning how we want to play. We will be working on the game style that Kevin Sheedy and Mark Williams have been setting out.

“We’ll keep working hard and hopefully produce a good result on February 5,” he said.
