Nick Haynes will become the 27th debutant for the Greater Western GIANTS when they play reigning AFL premiers Geelong at Simonds Stadium this Saturday.

Twenty-year-old Haynes has been named in the forward line and the GIANTS have also welcomed back midfielder Toby Greene after a one match suspension.

Haynes was drafted by the GIANTS with pick number seven at the 2011 NAB AFL draft.

Watch Kevin Sheedy run through his team:

An athletically gifted and versatile player, Haynes represented Vic Country at the NAB AFL U18 Championships as a 19-year-old after playing locally with the Frankston Bombers at senior level in 2010.

Defender Adam Kennedy is out of the side with a shoulder injury and Curtly Hampton has been omitted.

Head Coach Kevin Sheedy said that the GIANTS were looking forward to the challenge of travelling to Geelong for the first time to take on another quality opponent.

"We're trying to keep a fairly good side close together, not making too many changes in regards to the performance against Essendon," he said.

"We thought we should have kicked more goals with the amount of times we had it inside 50.

"In comes young Toby Greene. We're going to bring in a young player for his first game by the name of Nick Haynes. He's a very tall, athletic half/forward halfback. We're really looking forward to him playing his first game.

"The team in general has had a good attitude after a disappointing loss to the Bombers who are equal top of the AFL ladder. There are some terrific signs with the way we played the game, particularly in the first three quarters.

"Once again, we ran out of a little bit of steam in that last quarter. The young players often do that, no matter whether it's the GIANTS or the SUNS or other sides that are playing a lot of young players."
