Get ready to mark the calendars as another fixture full of GIANTS entertainment has been released, with the North East Australian Football League recently announcing the 2020 Toyota NEAFL Premiership fixture.

As revealed prior to Christmas, the nine-team, 21-round competition will commence on Saturday 4th April with the GIANTS opening their campaign against the Canberra Demons at Philip Oval.

Fans will have a bit of wait for a Sydney-based home game in 2020, with the team not due to play at GIANTS Stadium until round six.

GIANTS will play a total of seven home matches at GIANTS Stadium, with every single NEAFL clash scheduled as a curtain-raiser for the AFL, including blockbuster matches against Collingwood, Richmond and Sydney Swans.

The NEAFL side will also add to the excitement of an AFL first and GIANTS overload, with the side set to play a practice match at Tom Willis Oval the same day as the historic AFL/AFLW double-header at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday 21st March.

Other notable fixtures include Good Friday footy, three rostered byes and a GIANTS-v-Sydney Swans NEAFL/AFL double-header.

The GIANTS finished the competition in sixth place in season 2019, but with a revamped structure in 2020 only the top five sides will play off in the finals series.

The top-five system isn’t the only change for the GIANTS this season, with Jason Saddington recently promoted to the top job, taking over from Adam Schneider, who is now an assistant coach with the GIANTS’ AFL side.

Saddington has led the GIANTS Academy over the past five seasons and has been responsible for the development of a list of big names.

The GIANTS will play a total of three practice matches at Tom Willis Oval before the season officially gets underway in early April.
