GIANTS vice-captain Stephen Coniglio is expected to take his place against Gold Coast on Saturday at GIANTS Stadium.

Coniglio played limited minutes in the second half against Melbourne after suffering a knock to his knee in the first half.

GIANTS General Manager Football Wayne Campbell told the Westfund Rehab Report that the star midfielder should be cleared to play.

“He got a bit of a cork with knee on knee (contact) and a bit higher as well," Campbell said.

"He’s been a bit bashed up with his finger and his quad cork but at this stage he looks likely to play.”

Zac Williams will spend another week on the sidelines after hurting his hamstring in round nine however, the medical staff are optimistic he’ll be available to fly to Adelaide in round 12.

Defender Aidan Corr is likely to spend the next month on the sidelines after suffering a calf injury while a number of players also failed to finish the NEAFL match against Brisbane

Young forward Zach Sproule will be sidelined for up to two months after suffering a medial collateral ligament injury on Saturday.

The grade three strain was suffered in the second quarter but won’t require surgery.

Exciting midfielder Jye Caldwell is also expected to miss four weeks after suffering a calf injury in Maroochydore.

“Jye suffered a grade two soleus strain unfortunately so we’ll take him slow,” said Campbell.

"He’s had a bit of soft tissue history over the last couple of years so he’ll probably be a solid month before we see him again."

Meanwhile, first year ruckman Kieren Briggs is expected to play this weekend after being cleared of concussion.
