The GIANTS have smashed their all-time membership record, passing 25,000 members for the first time in the club’s history.

The GIANTS membership tally is up 27 per cent on last year’s total and sees the club reach the fourth-highest membership total for a professional sporting club in New South Wales and the ACT.

GIANTS Chief Executive Officer David Matthews said today’s milestone is a significant achievement for the AFL’s youngest club.

“To have 25,000 members in just our seventh season in the AFL is a remarkable effort,” Mr Matthews said.

“For the GIANTS to sit in the upper echelon of club membership in one of the world’s most competitive sporting markets demonstrates the strong connection we’ve developed with the communities that make up our regions.

“Our members have helped the GIANTS grow from humble beginnings in 2012 to a club that now has three elite teams, state of the art facilities and exceptional home grounds at Spotless Stadium and UNSW Canberra Oval.

“Our loyal and passionate fan base is helping write the history of this club and their support means a great deal to everyone involved with the GIANTS.”

48-year old Gareth Newman from Dee Why became the 25,000th member when he signed up as three-game member on Thursday.

“I’ve been a member the last couple of years and was a bit slow to re-sign this year but finally got around to it this week,” he said.

“I got on board the GIANTS a few years ago as I wanted to support an underdog and I liked what the GIANTS were trying to do both on and off the field.

“The family atmosphere at games is what we love and there’s nothing better than taking my sons Caleb and Nate to watch the footy at Spotless Stadium.

“We’re looking forward to being there this Saturday to hopefully watch the GIANTS continue their good form.”

GIANTS’ co-major partners Toyo Tires and Virgin Australia will be marking the milestone with special rewards for members at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.

Every member at Spotless Stadium on Saturday will be in the running to win business class return flights for two to any destination in New Zealand, thanks to Virgin Australia.

Meanwhile, the famous Toyo Tires Kick for Cash at three-quarter time will be bigger than ever this week with five lucky members having the chance to kick for $25,000 each.

The GIANTS take on St Kilda at Spotless Stadium this Saturday, July 28 at 4.35pm.

The GIANTS Multicultural Festival will also take place within the Spotless Stadium precinct from 1pm. Click here for more details.
