Forward Rhys Palmer will miss six weeks of football after hurting his shoulder in the GIANTS' record-breaking 66-point win over the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Palmer  injured his Sternoclavicular (SC) joint in the final quarter of his 100th AFL match at StarTrack Oval, Canberra.

The injury occurred following a heavy collision with Suns midfielder Dion Prestia. Palmer immediately came from the ground but no surgery will be required.

In better news, GIANTS key forward Jon Patton has rejoined full training in his comeback from a second knee reconstruction.

Patton is being assessed on a week-by-week basis and no date has been set for his return.

Adam Tomlinson (toe), Lachie Plowman (elbow), Liam Sumner (wrist), Jacob Townsend (foot), Jeremy Finlayson (hip) and Sam Schulz (hip) remain in the rehab group and are expected to return to the field in the coming weeks.

The GIANTS' next match is against the West Coast Eagles at Domain Stadium in Perth on Saturday at 7.40pm (AEST).
