Talented young Swans player Jed Lamb has advised the GIANTS that he wishes to join the club.

Lamb is the second Swans player to agree to join their cross town rival after premiership ruckman Shane Mumford recently signed a three year deal with the GIANTS.

The 21 year-old enjoyed a break-out year for the Swans in 2013, playing 12 games and kicking nine goals. His best game was against West Coast in round 17 when he had 19 possessions, five marks and kicked two goals.

Lamb was a first round selection in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, taken at pick 21 by the Swans.  After an injury interrupted first two seasons, he showed his potential in 2013 with his pace, football smarts and impressive work rate.

List Manager Stephen Silvagni said Lamb would be a very valuable addition to the GIANTS.

“Jed Lamb is a very impressive young player who we hope will be able to play a variety of roles at the GIANTS. He is highly rated, can kick goals and will be a great fit for our list,” he said.

“He has had three years in the AFL system in Sydney and has shown he has what it takes to succeed at the elite level and will have a long career ahead of him.”

Lamb stands at 181centremetres, weighs 84 kilograms and was recruited from TAC Cup side Gippsland after growing up in Yarram in Victoria.

The GIANTS will seek to secure Lamb, who is out of contract with the Swans, through the trade period.

The GIANTS have also secured pick 48 from Essendon in exchange for Shaun Edwards and Kurt Aylett.

Edwards, who’s currently in Ireland as part of the International Rules series, played 12 games for the GIANTS over two seasons.

NSW zone selection Kurt Aylett played one game for the GIANTS, debuting against Fremantle in Round 17, 2012.
The GIANTS thank both players for their contribution to the club during it’s first two years and wish them well for the future.
