The GIANTS have farewelled assistant coach Ben Hart, with the defensive coach departing the club for an opportunity in Victoria.
A popular figure within the club’s football program, Hart departs the club after four seasons in the orange and charcoal.
Hart joined the GIANTS ahead of the 2023 season, bringing a wealth of coaching experience to the football program, working across both the midfield and backline groups throughout his time at the club.
The AFL Hall of Fame inductee is set to return to the Collingwood Football Club where he has previously worked as an assistant coach.
Hart said he departs the club with mixed emotions.
“I have loved my time at the club,” he said.
“I’m really thankful to Jase [Jason McCartney] and Kingers [Adam Kingsley] for giving me the opportunity to be part of the GIANTS, and to everyone at the club for the support they’ve shown me and for making me feel so welcome from day one.
“I’ve met some great people and made some really strong friendships during my time here, and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
“I leave with a real mix of emotions. There’s obviously some sadness in leaving a club and people I’ve grown so close to over the past four years, but there’s also excitement for what’s ahead.”
GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football Jason McCartney thanked Hart for his contribution to the club across the past four seasons.
“Ben has been a valued member of our club over the past four seasons and has made a positive contribution to our football program,” McCartney said.
“He’s a terrific person and has built some strong relationships during his time at the GIANTS, both within the football program and across the broader club.
“We understand and respect his decision to take up this opportunity in Victoria and wish him all the best for what’s ahead.”
