Reigning GIANTS best and fairest player Zarlie Goldsworthy has avoided a serious injury but is still set for a stint on the sidelines following last Saturday’s match simulation against the Gold Coast.

Goldsworthy was sent for scans on Tuesday morning, which revealed a stable lower leg fracture.

The young star will miss the remainder of the pre-season and likely the commencement of the 2026 NAB AFLW season, with hopes of a return in early September.

Defender Daisy Walker will also be unavailable for this weekend’s practice match against the Western Bulldogs, avoiding a significant injury to her knee, but picking up some minor bone bruising.

Walker and Goldsworthy join the GIANTS’ top pick from the 2025 AFLW Draft Scarlett Johnson, who sustained a season-ending ACL rupture earlier in the pre-season.

Georgia Garnett continues to work through rehabilitation to a foot injury, sustained earlier in the pre-season. She will return to running shortly, with an expectation to be available in round one.
