The GIANTS have made four changes for this Sunday’s clash with the Bombers.
Lachie Whitfield, Max Gruzewski, Conor Stone and Nick Madden all return to Adam Kingsley’s side as the orange tsunami looks to make it three consecutive wins for the first time this season.
Gruzewski headlines the inclusions this week, with the key forward missing just two games after recovering ahead of schedule from a patella dislocation that many feared would end his season.
Stone has been recalled to the side after last featuring in the club’s round 17 win over the Dockers, with the defensive utility earning his seventh AFL opportunity for the season.
Whitfield returns after completing the AFL’s concussion protocols that forced him to miss last week’s win over the Cats, while Madden will replace the injured Kieren Briggs (leg infection).
Previously sidelined since April with a PCL injury, Madden returned to action via the VFL a fortnight ago where he was best on ground in the win over Coburg despite playing managed minutes.
The hulking ruck, who recently signed a new four-year deal with the club, registered 18 disposals, 15 hit outs, nine marks, and two goals in the win.
Sunday will mark Madden’s seventh game at AFL level.
The quartet come into the team for Briggs, Phoenix Gothard (injured), Harvey Thomas (managed), and Harry Oliver (omitted).
After impressive wins over the Dockers and the Cats, the GIANTS are aiming for their third straight win on Sunday as they continue their push for a spot in September.
Adding to the occasion, popular GIANT Xavier O’Halloran will play his 100th AFL game in Sunday’s clash with Essendon.
