Defender Jayden Laverde will play his 150th AFL game this Sunday when the GIANTS take on the Tigers in the Barossa. A former first round draft pick, the Western Jets graduate was taken by the Bombers with pick 20 in the 2014 Draft. Beginning his career as a forward, Laverde has successfully transitioned into the backline where he has become known as a reliable and competitive defender. While still relatively new to the orange and charcoal, the 29-year-old has been quick to showcase his versatility, toughness, and team-first approach, making an immediate impact within the GIANTS’ defensive unit.

The GIANTS will hold an open training session at Tanunda Recreation Park on Saturday afternoon followed by a junior footy clinic [registration link below] held by SANFL staff and featuring GIANTS AFL players. 

Come along and watch the side go through their final preparation during their Captain's Run before getting a signature or selfie with your favourite players.

What: Start the day at the GIANTS pre-match function before joining fellow fans in the “Orange Tsunami” march to Barossa Park as we take on the Tigers in what’s sure to be an exciting clash.

TRAVEL TO THE BAROSSA 

Free public transport is available to Barossa Park during Gather Round 2026 with a valid game‑day ticket. Fans can travel via train and shuttle connections or dedicated bus shuttles, operating before and after matches. 

Available services include: 

• City – Barossa Park shuttle bus, departing from King William Road, opposite or adjacent to the Macca’s Footy Festival at Elder Park. 

• Gawler train line - Regular services operating before and after matches. 

• Gawler Railway Station – Barossa Park shuttle bus, a special event shuttle connecting with Gawler train services.

Within the Barossa, there will be a free bus shuttle service, Bounce Around the Barossa, for fans wanting to experience the best of the Barossa region. Free for all to use and offering a hop on, hop off service across the Barossa region, including towns such as Nuriootpa, Tanunda, Angaston, and Gawler.
