A pair of fresh but familiar faces as well as eight AFL-listed GIANTS headline the club’s VFL side for its clash with Collingwood in the heart of Melbourne on Friday afternoon.

Two newcomers to the GIANTS’ VFL program will get their first taste of action on Friday, with Cameron Edwards and Matthew Belbasis named to take on the Pies.

While new to the VFL program, the pair are no strangers to the GIANTS, with Belbasis having played for the club’s NEAFL side in 2019 while Edwards played for the club’s NEAFL side from 2017-2019.

A local product from Western Sydney, Edwards joined the club in the summer from the East Coast Eagles, while Belbasis joined the program from fellow VFL club Footscray.

Eight AFL-listed GIANTS will also take to the field for Friday’s VFL clash against Collingwood, with Harry Rowston and Conor Stone entering the side this week alongside Nick Madden, Toby McMullin, Leek Aleer, Jack Ough, Oskar Taylor, and Riley Hamilton.

Meanwhile, exciting VFL small forward Lachlan Grubb will play his 50th State League game on Friday.

Originally set to take place at Victoria Park, Friday’s VFL encounter will now take place at Collingwood’s headquarters at KGM Centre on Friday afternoon.

The GIANTS will be looking to make it back-to-back wins to start the VFL season after a strong 44-point win over the Saints in round one.
