The GIANTS are thrilled to announce that talented youngster Harvey Thomas has signed a new two-year deal, keeping him in orange and charcoal through until at least the end of the 2028 AFL season.
Taken with pick 59 in the 2023 AFL Draft after being named the 2023 GIANTS Academy Player of the Year, Thomas has quickly developed into an important player in Adam Kingsley’s side.
Hailing from Wagga Wagga and a member of the National Championship-winning Allies side in his draft year, Thomas has carved out a role as a valuable team-first utility capable of impacting strongly across half forward or further up the ground.
His toughness, high footy IQ and his classy left foot have made Thomas an important contributor for the GIANTS over the last two seasons.
Thomas made his AFL debut in the Opening Round of the 2024 season to kickstart an impressive debut campaign in which he played 22 games and earned himself an AFL Rising Star nomination after a standout performance against Port Adelaide in round 14.
The crafty utility added a further 18 games in 2025 to quickly notch up 40 AFL games and highlight his consistent output heading into his third season in 2026.
The 20-year-old’s new two-year deal comes following another strong showing in the club’s big Opening Round win over the Hawks on Saturday, collecting 20 disposals and going at 80 per cent disposal efficiency to play a meaningful role in the 27-point win.
GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said the club was thrilled to secure Thomas for another two seasons.
“To have Harvey sign on until at least the end of 2028 is terrific for our footy club as we continue to lock away our really exciting young core,” McCartney said.
“It’s been fantastic to watch Harvey’s growth from his time in the GIANTS Academy to now really establishing himself at AFL level.
“He’s a hard worker, a great teammate, and someone who is always looking to get better.
“We’re really excited about what the future holds for him.”
After their strong Opening Round win at home, the GIANTS will now hit the road looking to make it two from two to start the season in what’s sure to be an entertaining battle with the Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
