The GIANTS are thrilled to announce that exciting Irish forward Callum Brown has signed a new three-year deal, recommitting to the club until at least the end of the 2028 AFL season.

A former Gaelic football star for County Derry, Brown was first identified by the GIANTS’ Irish scouting program in 2017 and undertook a 12-month trial before being signed as a Category B Rookie in late 2018.

The first player to join the GIANTS’ AFL program directly from Ireland, Brown’s unique blend of strength, skill, and athleticism continue to make him an extremely dynamic talent in the GIANTS’ forward half.

Announcing himself to the AFL world in style with two goals on debut in round 21 of the 2021 season, the powerful forward has steadily become a mainstay in the club’s senior side with 58 games and 61 goals to his name since.

Enjoying a breakout year in 2023, Brown set new career-highs in both games played (19) and goals (19) to firmly establish himself in coach Adam Kingsley’s best 22. He backed that up in 2024 with another strong campaign, kicking 17 goals across 13 matches and continuing to provide a consistent threat inside forward 50.

Blessed with the rare combination to impact overhead and at ground level, Brown’s influence on games continues to grow, with his explosive athleticism, clean hands, and physical presence making him a difficult matchup for opposition defenders.

The Irishman’s new three-year deal comes during a career-best year for the 24-year-old who has featured in 16 games so far this season and kicked multiple goals in six of the last nine weeks to play an important role in the GIANTS’ push to September.

Currently in his seventh year as a GIANT, Brown’s best footy is still to come as he continues his impressive rise in orange and charcoal.

GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said Brown’s extension is another important piece of the club’s future locked away.

“Callum’s journey is one of the great success stories from where he’s come from to now being a really solid contributor to our side,” McCartney said.

“He arrived at the club as a teenager from Ireland with very little exposure to AFL, but what he’s achieved through his work ethic, commitment and natural ability has been remarkable.

“He’s playing some really good footy at the moment and hitting the scoreboard for us which adds another dynamic to our forward line.

“We know he’s got great capability to provide a real x-factor and it’s pleasing to have him locked away for another three years.”

Brown’s signature adds to a growing list of GIANTS locking in their futures in recent months, with teammates Aaron Cadman, Darcy Jones, Finn Callaghan, Connor Idun and Toby Bedford all inking new deals.
