The orange tsunami shows no signs of slowing down in 2025, with the GIANTS setting a new all-time membership record ahead of Friday night’s historic Sydney Derby under lights at ENGIE Stadium.
The GIANTS have officially reached 36,725 members – the highest in club history – continuing an extraordinary trend of growth since the club’s inception in 2012.
Smashing past last year’s record tally of 36,629, the GIANTS have now exceeded 30,000 members in seven straight seasons and set a new club membership record in each of the past four years. Reserved seat memberships are up 10.2% in 2025, leading the club’s overall growth.
Having become known for their exciting orange tsunami style of football and for having a fun and cheeky personality, the GIANTS continue to break new ground in Western Sydney, the ACT, and beyond as the club brings new fans to our great game through an identity based on passion, diversity and inclusion, with an exciting flair.
This major achievement comes with energy at an all-time high at the GIANTS, both in Sydney at ENGIE Stadium and at Corroboree Group Oval, Manuka in Canberra, where the passion of the Orange Army continues to shine through every match day as they play a crucial role in ensuring on-field success.
The special achievement also comes as the GIANTS’ AFLW program prepares to celebrate its 10th season in the competition next month. With strong growth already in AFLW membership we look forward to welcoming more AFLW members before we kick off the season at Corroboree Group Oval, Manuka, on August 16 ahead of our first Sydney home game of the season on August 30 at Henson Park.
GIANTS Chief Executive Officer David Matthews said the club’s new membership record is another fantastic achievement for the competition’s youngest club.
“To break our all-time membership record again — and to do it before a blockbuster Sydney Derby — is a special moment for our club,” Matthews said.
“To set a new membership record for four straight years really shows the direction that the club is headed and we thank our members for their continued commitment and unwavering support.
“We’re seeing more fans than ever proudly wear orange and help create a fan base that is really passionateabout our club, whether that’s fans in New South Wales or in Canberra and beyond.
“Our members are the lifeblood of our club and we’re extremely excited about the club's trajectory and what our future holds.
“And our thanks go to Reflections Holidays, whose partnership and support continues to help us grow and deepen our connection with communities right across the region.”
Matthews added it was the perfect week to celebrate a new major milestone as the club prepares to host the Swans in Friday’s blockbuster clash at ENGIE Stadium.
“Over the past 14 years we’ve really built a genuine and passionate rivalry with the Swans and I’m sure Friday’s game will be another emotional clash in what will be the 31st Sydney Derby.
“This is the first time we’ve hosted a Sydney Derby on a Friday night at ENGIE Stadium and we can’t wait to see a packed house as we try and get one over the crosstown rival and continue our push towards September.
“Our AFL program is really hitting its straps at the right time of year and it’s fantastic to hit this membership record as we push for yet another finals campaign.”
This Friday’s Sydney Derby against the Swans at ENGIE Stadium is set to be one of the biggest nights of the AFL season — and fans are encouraged to be part of history in the making.
With the GIANTS flying on-field and orange fever sweeping Sydney, this is one match you don’t want to miss.
