The GIANTS’ VFL side will host two huge AFL curtain raisers at ENGIE Stadium in the back half of the season, after the VFL fixture for rounds 14-21 was released on Wednesday.
Headlining the fixture for the GIANTS’ VFL side was the announcement that it would host Geelong at ENGIE Stadium in round 16 on a Saturday afternoon, ahead of the AFL side’s twilight clash with the Cats.
The GIANTS were given a second huge VFL-AFL doubleheader on Friday, July 25 when the club’s VFL side hosts the Swans at ENGIE Stadium for an afternoon VFL Sydney Derby prior to the historic AFL Derby that night.
Also included in Wednesday’s fixture release is a round 15 Saturday afternoon clash with Werribee at Avalon Airport, a meeting with the Bombers at Windy Hill in round 17, and a trip to the kennel to take on Footscray at Mission Whitten Oval in round 19.
The GIANTS’ VFL side will then face off against the Suns in a potential finals-shaping contest at People First Stadium in the final round of the VFL season.
The round 21 clash will serve as a curtain closer to be played after the two club’s AFL sides do battle in the Expansion Cup.
Currently sitting third on the VFL table at 6-3, the GIANTS will look to cement themselves inside the top four on Saturday when they host the Northern Bullants in Blacktown at 11am.
