Promising draftee Ollie Hannaford will play his first official game in GIANTS colours this weekend as one of two big inclusions to the club’s undefeated VFL side.

Joining the club via pick 18 in last year’s draft, Hannaford impressed throughout his first pre-season at the GIANTS and was pushing for an AFL debut in the early rounds of the season before breaking his wrist in a VFL practice match.

Now fully recovered and ready to fire, GIANTS fans will get their first glimpse of the tough utility as the club’s VFL side takes on the Cats in Geelong as a curtain raiser to the AFL clash at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.

Joining Hannaford in Sunday’s side is fellow youngster James Leake who returns to the field after overcoming a groin injury which kept him out of last week’s VFL win.

Hannaford and Leake join a top of the table VFL side looking to remain undefeated after five straight wins to start the season.

This week’s VFL team will feature 15 AFL-listed GIANTS, with the likes of Harry Rowston, Leek Aleer, and Max Gruzewski looking to continue their stellar form at the level.

The GIANTS will aim for six straight wins when they clash with the Cats at 11:35am on Sunday morning in Geelong.
