GIANTS midfielder Toby Bedford has avoided serious damage to his eye and will be a test for this Sunday’s clash with the Cats at GMHBA Stadium.
Bedford was subbed out at half-time during last weekend’s Sydney Derby due to blurred vision, following an incident with the Swans’ Lewis Melican in the second quarter.
Bedford will have a second consultation with the eye specialist on Thursday and if cleared, is expected to train on Friday.
Jake Riccardi (hand) and Kieren Briggs (ankle) will also be tests for this weekend. Riccardi was a late out from Thursday’s squad while Briggs rolled his ankle in Sunday’s Sydney Derby.
Draftee Ollie Hannaford will participate in full training this week and could be in line to play his first game of the season if he gets through Friday’s main training.
Vice-captain Stephen Coniglio will continue to increase his training load following a glute injury, while Logan Smith is also progressing in his re-loading following illness.
Brent Daniels will move into conditioning-based training, while Josh Kelly is looking to return to modified training on Friday.
The GIANTS’ AFL and VFL teams will travel to Geelong this weekend to take on the Cats at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.
