AFLW star Haneen Zreika headlines three inclusions for the GIANTS’ VFLW away clash with Port Melbourne on Saturday afternoon.
One of the GIANTS’ most reliable and relentless players, Zreika will return for her second VFLW game of the season as the GIANTS look to make it four straight wins in an impressive VFLW campaign to date.
Zreika is joined in the side by young VFLW train-on duo Sophie Kavanagh and Olivia Edwards.
Hailing from the North Shore Bombers, Edwards will play her third game of the season after missing last week’s win over the Cats, while Paramatta product Kavanagh returns for her first game since the club’s win over the Blues in round three.
Impressive AFLW recruits Eilish O’Dowd and Mikayla Pauga are both unavailable for the clash, while tough defender Katherine Smith (hamstring) and tall forward Courtney Murphy (back) will both miss through injury.
Smith will be sidelined for around two weeks with a minor hamstring injury, while Murphy is expected to be available for the club’s final VFLW hit-out next week against the Bombers.
AFLW stars Zarlie Goldsworthy, Georgia Garnett and Tarni Evans will once again feature in the VFLW side which consists of 12 AFLW- listed players for the clash with Port Melbourne.
Included in the VFLW competition for the first time since 2019, the GIANTS will play five games from rounds 3-7 this season, with the club undefeated across its first three games against Carlton, the Southern Saints, and Geelong.
The GIANTS will take on the Borough at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne at 3:05pm on Saturday.
