The GIANTS have named their squad set to take on the Gold Coast Suns in Thursday night’s AAMI Community Series match at Manuka Oval.
The match marks the club’s official pre-season match, ahead of next weekend’s historic Opening Round fixture.
The Orange Tsunami will be close to full strength for Thursday night’s match, with the side set to welcome back captain Toby Greene.
Greene sat out last Thursday’s match simulation against the Swans as he and partner Georgia welcomed their first child, Isla, into the world.
Alongside the addition of Greene, the GIANTS have also added experienced defender Nick Haynes who sat out the loss to the Swans due to an ankle injury.
The experienced duo bolsters the side, with 418 games of experience between them.
The Orange Army will be excited to see a pair of Canberrans named in Thursday’s team, with both Tom Green and Josh Fahey set to take on the Suns in the nation’s capital.
Following an impressive first outing in GIANTS colours last week, draftee Harvey Thomas has been named for a second game.
The GIANTS Academy product was praised for his performance against the Swans and will be looking to impress yet again as he pushes his case for a spot in Adam Kingsley’s side in the season opener.
After featuring in last week’s match simulation key forward Jesse Hogan and emerging leader Lachie Ash will both sit out Thursday’s game but will be available for selection next week.
Harry Perryman (hamstring), Issac Cumming (quad), Finn Callaghan (shoulder) and James Leake (quad) remain unavailable for selection as they continue their return to full training in the coming weeks.
Phoenix Gothard (glandular fever) and Darcy Jones (tonsilitis) are both unavailable due to illness while Adam Kennedy (knee) and Braydon Preuss (back) remain on the club’s long-term injury list.
Thursday’s game will be the final chance for the 26-players selected to prove their case for selection in the GIANTS’ opening round match against Collingwood on Saturday, March 9.
The AAMI Community Series match between the GIANTS and the Suns will be shown live on Fox Footy and Kayo nationally from 7pm.
